What is the Greater Portland Alliance of Colleges and Universities?
Established in 1993, GPACU is a non-profit consortium of five Southern Maine institutions of higher education: Maine College of Art, Saint Joseph’s College, Southern Maine Community College, the University of New England, and the University of Southern Maine.
Though very different in size and mission, these five schools have embraced the Alliance as a means to enrich learning opportunities for students and faculty, expand intercollegiate cooperation, and enhance the cultural and educational quality of life in Southern Maine. Through important programs such as cross-registration, shared library borrowing, student health services, and faculty grants, GPACU benefits students, staff, and teachers, and improves the effectiveness and efficiency of its participating schools. |
